Ricardo Kaka – The Greatest Soccer Player Of All?

Football – or soccer as it is called in the United States – is a hugely popular sport with some incredibly good players. Ricardo Kaka is certainly one of the greatest to have ever played. His full name is Ricardo Izecson dos Santos Leite and he is originally from Brazil. He really is a world class player, as he plays for the Brazil national team as well as for the Spanish club Real Madrid. Ricardo Kaka became involved in football when he was just eight years old. At this time, he also enjoyed tennis and played football for a small local team. In 1994, he moved to Sao Paulo and signed up with the youth football team. At 18, he suffered a spinal fracture in a swimming pool, but was able to recover. He feels he owes his recovery to Jesus Christ. In 2003, he was sold to Milan for a hefty sum of 8.5 million Euros. He quickly made a name for himself and became known as a fantastic player. On 2004, he helped the Diavolo win serie A and then the Champions League in 2007. He also go the Golden Ball – Ballon d’Or – in 2007 as FIFA World Player of the Year.

In no time at all, Kaka became increasingly popular. 68.5 million Euros was paid for Kaka by Real Madrid, when they bought him of Milan. This made him the second most expensive football player ever to have been. Unfortunately, due to injuries, he did have some difficulties in his first two seasons. Kaka started playing for Brazil in 2002, which was the same year in which Brazil won the World Cup. Some of his achievements include being Foreign Footballer of the Year in 2004 and 2006, as well as Footballer of the Year Series A in 2004. In the 2004/05 season, he was the Champions League Best Midfielder. He was the Fans’ Player of the Season and the Champions League Top Scorer in the 2006/07 season. He was also nominated for Best Player in the World by Kicker. He was also named the World’s Best Footballer by the Gazzetta dello Sport. And in 2007, he got the Ballon d’Or, meaning he was FIFA’s world player.
